(More customer reviews)I do not usually review items I buy and I almost didn't review this item because I was so frustrated with a long shipping delay. It was finally resolved by Amazon shipping a new one next day mail. However, by the time I notified Amazon that my Latitude Jacket was lost in the mail the price of my order had lowered by $11 on Amazon.com. I thought they should have at least adjusted the price for customer satisfaction, especially since I have purchased large quantities of items over a long period from them. They did not. This is the only reason I gave this item a 4 star rating instead a 5 star rating.
Now, for a review of the Jacket: I researched every jacket known to the internet to find a suitable jacket for the new generation Kindle I received for Christmas. I was highly exacting and extremely particular because I not only wanted the jacket to look good I wanted it to provide excellent protection, be highly functional for long-term reading, ruggedly durable for both ease of use and long lasting with minimal maintenance, and, finally, be able to hold the Kindle firmly and securely while allowing adequate functionality for all buttons and switches.
Though I looked at jackets from ranging from $20 to $200, from cloth to real leather, and from simple to exotic I finally settled on the M-Edge Latitude w/integrated theater-stand. At first I was uncertain about the theater stand though I liked the idea for long term reading ability. I was afraid it might be cheaply constructed and hard to adjust, but, it looked to be just what I needed for marathon reading. When I received the jacket and tested the theater stand I was very pleased at its ease of use and its ability to adjust at the exact level I needed. I was also impressed by its seemingly durable and efficient construction. I was most amazed with the fact when you collapsed the stand into the jacket it collapses completely flat and the whole component is recessed into the padding so it does not touch the Kindle when the case is closed and zipped.
My Kindle fit snuggly and securely into the jacket while still enabling the ability to use all switches with ease and accessibility. The fabric seems extremely durable and the zippers work smoothly, even when folding the cover completely to the back and using the zippers to hold the back firmly abutting the front. This makes reading more comfortable while holding the Kindle in your hands. The padding is quite adequate to protect the Kindle and I now feel far more confident in taking it out and about without fear of damaging it.
I am not quite sure what the compartment on the side is suppose to hold, but, it can't be much for it is too tight to hold much more than a business card. I don't need or use it so it does not affect me.
All in all, I am very impressed with my new M-Edge Latitude w/theater-stand and highly recommend it for safe, dependable, efficient, durable, and functional use for the new generation Kindle.
